In the past... I had to setup a client with a printer-based port... In the documentation, the specific cash drawer had dip-switches on the back. Based on the given code, you just had to include that "special" character when printing and the drawer would open... maybe something like a CHR(235). However, apparently (at the time), not all cash drawers worked on this type of process.
