I remember the training film we had to watch, “This is the Enemy”! It was women who were the enemy! They wore provocative clothing and stood against street lamps luring G.I.’s. Remember your safety equipment!

Getting drunk
A way of life for some. If you do not have alcohol then use drugs.

Seeing new territory you could not have dreamed of.
In some cases you still have nightmares.

Seeing events you will never forget.
And cannot talk about.

Celebrating victory.
Having parades.

Belonging to the American Legion
A place where you can buy a drink and "talk to the boys".

When coffee was five cents we would say, "With all my medals and five cents I can buy a cup of coffee"!

Destruction of military families of those that survive.
High rate of divorce.

Drug Addiction and alcoholism.
Demons chased my father, which he suppressed with Rum until a few weeks before he was 80. My father had no health issues except for Rum. He drank so much one-day it stopped his heart. He deserted two families in the process.

War has different values to each person.
