Sergey, thanks for reply. I have done further tests adding return statements in the code to see where it trips up. The (first?) offending line is REPLACE sys.importlock WITH "" ... so maybe the DBF files I opened (one with alias sys) are not available. I have forcibly used "Set Datasession to 1" but I don’t really understand this aspect of COM and most likely this is wrong. Is there a way to ensure the DBF files are available? Denis
