>In a DTS, in the Connection Properties, I select the "File DSN" radio button and select a DSN file. I click OK. I re-open the Connection to re-check the Connection Properties, and, instead of seeing the "File DSN" radio button selected with the file I selected, I see the "User/System DSN" radio button file, and "dBASE file" selected. The only work around I know of is to recreate the DTS, and to get the "File DSN" right the first time. Since this is a lot of work, I'm wondering---can I change it to "File DSN" and keep the change I've made?
Hi Joseph,
It looks like File DSN is used by DTS designer not DTS Package. When you specify File DSN, DTS designer reads its context and stores it into the connection Extended Properties Value attribute. You can use Disconnected Edit to view/modify it. You may rename/delete that File DSN and it wouldn't affect DTS Package that supposedly uses it.
