My humble opinion is that you should make the jump to 8.0. Why should you deny yourself, and your users, the improved functionality as well as the new stuff for you? There will be a certain amount of rewrite in the change from 6 to 7, so save yourself the grief of a 7.0 to 8.0 conversion. Also, it will make the conversion to 9.0 that much easier.

Remember an opinion is worth what you pay for it....
