Hello Rick:

Thank you for your kind response.

>What OS is this being run on?
Windows ME

>I believe at least the last two need to be registered, otherwise the system may be running/firing up another version of these.
This app started with VFP6, then moved to VFP7. In both situations, the runtime files were merely placed in the directory containing the executable. I have had no problems doing that and the program ran well. The reasonsing for this (the one who initially designed the app) was, by placing the runtime files in the directory with the executable, changes that the user may make to their machines will have no effect on the performance of our application.

Therefore, we have 2 directories that we give out to clients. RCMSData holds all the free tables and their meta data (SDT), while RCMSProg contains the executable and other tables required for processing.

>Any reason why you aren't using a real Windows installer? (e.g. The free ISE included with VFP 8.0)

1. Each time we have a new client, a unique executable is produced for that client. IOW, relevant client information is hardcoded in the executable (a way of licensing you may say). Therefore, we do not have one single executable that would serve everyones needs. We have code written that automates the production of updates etc based on the clients information is a specific table, then we zip them up and provide the user with the zipped files and a batch file, which when run, installs the updates. In the case of new installs, we just zip it using pkZip and the user extracts to their pc. I don't think ISE was avaiable with VFP 6.

2. Can what I do be accomplished using ISE?

Thank you fro your time. It is appreciated.
