Not necessarily. If you have a clean business object architecture binding data is no more difficult than straight data code inside of VFP. FIrst most BO frameworks will feed you the data. Second the BO will simplify most tasks and most importantly it will handle the mundane sh*t you have to write everyday over and over again in terms of data access code.
It'll likely take much more time to set up to get to the 'data binding' portion of your application with n-Tier design. But once you're there you're almost done with the app - all the hard stuff will already have been written and you simply plug the stuff into the UI.
