>>The set tablevalidate to 0, does allow me to open the table. Thanks, that will be a big help in fixing the table. But like you said, we need to figure out what is screwing it up.

Now since you have a 'live' situation on your hands, let me ask that if AT ANY TIME you even have a hint or idea of what might be factors in the cause, please come and discuss it here in a thread. My belief is that the more information we have circulating about the problem, the better the chance to NAIL IT.

Jim,

This is an Odd thing, but I thought it might be vaguely related to this thread.
I wrote a simple test prg. Clicked the red ! on the toolbar. Looked at the results displayed on the VFP Screen, and decided to run the speed test again, just by clicking the red !. This time I got a Syntax error.
In my command window I have the following entry:
DO "c:\documents and settings\tracy\application data\microsoft\visual foxpro 8\foxuser.dbf"
At one point after this, I had my FoxUser.dbf corrupt. I started getting a lot of C5 errors just opening something.

Don't know if it applies, but it was odd behaviour around the time I had a corrupt table.
