When each of those has been created, it was because there was a need to isolate specific questions into a new category about the new version. At first, many like the fact that they can isolate a question into a dedicated category about the new version. As time goes by, they will mostly target the category to be more appropriate. However, whatever posted remain as is as it's also good to know that content, posted in such a category, is bound to a specific version.
