Sadly, Fernando, "fair" has nothing to do with war. More importanly in this case, "fair" is as it is determined to be by the U.S. forces. The INVADED Iraqis didn't fight "fair". Imagine putting large weapons (normal, not WMD) caches in schools!!! Imagine taking off your uniform but continuing to fight!!! Imagine hiding and making sniper fire!!! Imagine using regular vehicles as fighting platforms!!! Imagine shooting from a mosque!!! All of these things are NOT "fair", showing clearly the madness of the regime.
We had large amounts of high explosives moved towards the oil fields in the north and south with the obvious intent to blow the fields weeks before hostilities began.
We had the red ring around Baghdad, the crossing of which would cause WMD to be used by Iraqis.
We had, on at least a couple of occasions, Saddam authorizing his troops to use WMD.
We had dams being rigged for destruction long before hostilities began.
Now the cycle repeats for Syria. It seems designated to fill the vacancy in the "axis of evil".
And since the American people (and Canadians too, largely) have NOT seen the images of the human carnage their view is that this was a nice clinical war and they can only get better with more experience. Soon they will have been primed by the propaganda to be out in the streets shouting "bring it on!".
The Wolfowitz dream is materializing even faster than he envisioned.
