We had this problem as well but we significantly reduced this by switching off the keep alive flag, increasing the request timeout, increasing number of concurrent sessions, and making sure we had the latest Apache server installed.

Thanks for the input. I use Microsoft IIS 5 on Windows 2000 Pro. My timeout is OK (120 seconds) and switching off the keep alive flag does not help... :-(
