It's all in VFP IDE, i.e. DO FORM from the command window is almost instantaneous, MODIFY FORM may take 20 sec. - the same environment, the same data.
I suspect some network switches, because I always suspect the network when I don't have an explanation :) Seriously, one late afternoon the network guy disconected one switch and for about 20' MODIFY FORM was fast, but I cannot prove this was the actual problem.
I posted to see if other people see this - it seems that it is just us, so maybe I am right to suspect the network this time.
