I finally got around this problem by simply recompiling the EXE on the server. That's the first time I am forced to move the source code to the server to compile in order to install a WWC app in production. Once I did it, the EXE was running ok. It may also have been related to the COM two related files. I also removed them so I can't be sure what exactly resolved the issue.
