Hi Michael,

>>
My plan is to enable my clients to connect to a virtual in both http and https. I have a couple of questions:

1) Can I get a single cert for my home domain (www.mydomain.com) and then use it for any virtual (www.mydomain.com/myvirtual/home.htm) under that just by linking to an https address?

2) It appears that the default web site set up automatically in IIS is already set up for both normal and ssl traffic - and that all I need to do is install a cert and everything works. Is that correct?

I just want to make sure that when I buy my first cert I won't have to buy a replacement due to a technical screwup on my part. I went through a step by step guide on thawte to generate the key but I'm not sure if I'll need to do anything else besides request the cert and install it.

I haven't had to deal with this in over a year but I think the answer to both your questions is Yes. You could also consider (at least for testing) installing the MS Certificate server and generating your own certificate/s.
Depending on your site this may be acceptable for pruduction use as well.

Don't think you need to worry about losing the certificate due to any screwups. It's only a file - just keep a save copy somewhere.

Regards,
Viv
