Sure, sorry. SCATTER MEMVAR NAME is absolutely idiotic - I take all my words about such objects back - they are OK.

VFP 8.0 doesn't see the wrong syntax i've used as error, it just executes SCATTER MEMVAR and ignores NAME - that's the reason for the behaviour I've described.
