Somebody told me that the broadcasting companies used to recruit their radio announcers from a region between Ypsilanti Michigan and Northern Ohio, where American Radio English is widely spoken. It occurs to me that I'm not sure of the proper American Radio English pronounciation of Ypsilanti.
