It is good stuff but often misunderstood. Obviously, for the kind of thing you have tried to achieve (Publish & Subscribe), its the only way to go. Quite often, a little success with the system states leads developers to start using states for everything. Generally, states are used to co-ordinate forms, toolbars and menus. However, a common mistake is to over use states to co-ordinate form items that could be more easily handled by a form property with _ACCESS and _ASSIGN methods.
