That is yesterday’s news! What about today? :)

Even if you use assembler you have to worry that Intel (or who ever) will go out of business. I guess I am tired of hearing what started as a joke and became “fact”.

I am sure that there are still IBM 360’s out there holding down buildings and doing what Big Blue designed it to do. Now a nice Fortran project would do just nicely! I have not done that since 1980. Such "fun". :)
