My team is just starting to convert our VFP apps from 7 to 8, and we have not run into a single problem. (Thanks for the SET ENGINEBEHAVIOR 70!) We are a Fortune 500 company, running numerous 4-tier apps on a nationwide WAN through Citrix Metaframe. The combination of Citrix, VFP, COM+/Web Services (written in VFP, of course), and SQL Server 2000 is unbeatable. By the way, I've got the latest copy of Visual Studio .net, but it can't approach the productivity of an established OOP framework in VFP.
I've used every release since FoxPlus, and this is easily the biggest incremental release yet. I can tell that the new features came from real-world developers, who wanted features that would help solve business problems. For example, I am about to enhance my entire middle tier, using CursorAdapters and XmlAdapters. These are the things we need to be productive. Five years ago, I was the only programmer at my company. Now I have 11, and they're all going to get VFP8 in the near future.
Please extend my thanks to the entire Fox Development Team, and best wishes on Europa!
