>I don't have a huge amount of test data ...
I recommend to write a small program to fill a table with a sufficient amount of records, trying to keep the conditions as realistic as possible, with respect to:
Number of records you expect to have eventually.
Over a network, if you expect to use a network in the production application.
Distribution of data (for instance, in how many different records will the same foreign key, or the same date, repeat?).
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
