Yes, physically reordering records can boost performance if the records are predominately accessed in a specific order or grouping. However, this sort of performance-tweaking can seem like chasing milliseconds and will only really help in a few installations using monstrous data sets.

If that would be the case, we would be constantly running such a procedure on our data and this would simply make no sense.
