Re #4 below: Sorry, I meant in the rel_orders table, not 'gennotes'.

Re #6 below: No, you do not need a TABLEUPDATE() if the tables are UNbuffered, which I presume they are since things work normally.

Just trying to have as much relevant info as possible in the thread in case it twigs some other reader to a situation they've had.
