If I append a record from either the data session or code I get a "Cannot write to record because it's in use." The stored procedure code uses a calculate command to find the max value for the field. If I remove the stored procedure from the default value I can append a new record. Is there something I am doing wrong? Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a way to get around it?

Try SQL max to get value instead of calculate (moves pointer).
