Gary,
>Another option to look at is SQL Anywhere Studio by Sybase. It is very easy to administer, much cheaper than MSSql, and has a very good setup of IDE tools that comes with it.
I learned sql servers products thru ASA (first version was name watcom-sql). I have thoroughly tested alternatives for our products over time included big dogs and new stuffs... and never switch products.
The ASA 8 product is a brilliant piece of software. We use it on all versions of win32 and RH linux.
In spite of a recent growth of the set of admin tools (due to the usage of java), the base product (server, base tools, odbc layer) is truely exceptionally lean and effective.
The combination with vfp (all versions) is pb-less. The pricing is adequate.
My recommendation too:)
Francois
