Hi,

I'm building an application and a module in the application needs to keep track of documents. This is the scenario.

There's going to be around 80 legal documents (in different languages) sometimes adding some, sometime deleting some. The legal department modifies these documents as legal issues come up.

There's a Printing department which will mail merge some of these documents with a list of clients. They can't modify the documents, just do the mail merge. I want to be able to keep track of the documents sent for history (audit trail).

Now as far as I've thought about it, there are 3 options.

1) Have the legal department enter the documents in Word and add or make modifications. The printing department will use my program to choose a document and it will automatically mail merge. Each time they print make a copy of each printed document to a history file for audit purposes. So basically have my app control Word to do mail merges and opening files etc.

2) Write my own little editor so they can create the documents within my application (no Word) and I can show them the available fields and they can put them. Everytime they print keep history also. (Probably out of the question b/c of time constraints)

3) Buy a third party product (preferrably written in Foxpro) that can handle this type of scenerio.

What do you guys think? Anyone done something similar? if used a thirdy party product, what would you recommend?

Thanks
