It looks like we might have figured out the source of the problem. This client site is the only one that has a network storage product called Network Appliance Filer. One of the features of this product is that it takes binary level snapshot images of the folder contents to allow for easy restoring if necessary. These snapshots occur once an hour on the hour and in the evening.

The IT person there finally found out from NetApp that there were conflicts between these snapshots and Access databases and NetApp knew of configuration changes that would need to be done to address those conflicts. There is a good chance that this conflict might exist with VFP data as well, so they're testing the changes to see if it helps with the corruption that is happening. If it doesn't, I'm going to tell them to go back to a "normal" file server.
