>I already wrote one business application in VFP v7.0 without using a framework, I just created a .EXE and put in on the network and all is good. Now I a preparing to write a big program and I am not sure what "framework" even is. I keep hearing about Maxframe. Do I need it?????

Steven;

Should you use a framework?

The short answer: You should use a framework! The hard question: Which one? :)

In addition to the excellent advice you have received, may I add this. Frameworks take time to learn but in the long will save you time. They are also a good way to learn more about object-oriented programming.

It took me three attempts to create a VFP framework, before I was “satisfied” with it. This took many months of time. Finally, I became involved with several commercially available frameworks. After working with them I settled upon one, which I still use.

Some advantages I like about commercially available frameworks include:

1. Another team is working on new features and resolving issues while you write applications for clients.

2. You have access to bulletin boards over the Internet where you can ask questions and receive answers from other developers.

Now that is hard to beat!

Good luck!
