I am trying to use grid.auotfit() in a grid class that sorts the data by clicking on the header. When you click the column that contains the description (of a part we manufacture, where the description can vary any where from 20 chars long to 55 chars long), the column width will change drastically as you change it from descending to ascending or vice versa.

On columns where the data is all the same length of chars or numeric format, it is fine. But it does not handle columns well where there are great differences in the character length.

What method does VFP use to calculate how wide the column get set to? It is very annoying to see the grid columns jumping all around as the column width changes.
