DELETE FROM < some table > WHERE ... - I don't think this command is available in FPD2.6

SCAN ALL FOR ... - Yes. This is another way. I generally use SET KEY TO because I presume it is faster.

file lock - I cannot lock the file as somebody else might open the table at the same time on the network.
