I don't know about no more legal worries (I'm thinking of the original IE semi-technical legal case by DOJ and states) - but you may be right, it could be *less* legal worries. I might do the same, in fact, were I in their shoes, with the linux issue and whatnot - heck, simply getting clients to pony up for regular upgrades is a big deal nowadays, and a little "tech-enforcement" boost seems to be the coming practice...
