Don't know what life is like in Idaho, but I can assure you that from the people I've talked to, I haven't heard of 1 story of someone collecting unemployment these days because he wants to.

As Tom has mentioned, and I have read about, there are now problems with divorces. Economists are now worried about the number of people who will be forced to be underemployeed due to the current economic situation.

When the economy has been much better I've heard a few stories of folks collecting unemployment because they could. But all you have to do is read the business section to see the hugh amount of layoffs that are still occuring everyday.

I also remember from my economics class (a number of years ago) that 6% unemployment was considered full employment. Recently that number has been changed to 5%. I wonder what the unemployment rate would be if the government would quit extending unemployment benefits.
