Ok, I know we all have heard the terms regarding theism, and we all probably think that we understand what they mean.

First, I will define, once again, my defintions. And while I'm confident these definitions are up to date (as I am aware of their previous meanings) I am willing to compromise on the defintions for the sake discussing these philosophies with you all.

1. Theism: belief in god
2. Atheism: without belief in god
3. Agnosticism: belief that one cannot know whether or not there is a god
4. Anti-theism: belief that there is no god

It is important in this context that the word "belief" is understood by all as something that is accepted as absolutely true. If we allow any opinion or point of view that is thought to be true but not thought to be absolutely true to be named a belief, there is little point to continuing this discussion, IMO. Religion is about absoluteness, without that it would fall apart. Therefore, religious beliefs (in this case I'm talking about theism, agnosticism, and antitheism) must be absolute to remain in context.

Regarding ATheism vrs. Anti-Theism: sure, we can argue about the linguistic implications of "a" vrs. "anti", ect. but that doesn't change the fact that there are many people without belief in the existence/nonexistence of god that call themselves atheists, and that should be respected when considering definitions.

So thats my proposal. My hope by starting this discussion is that we can all decide on unambigious definitions (for use in this forum only), and therefore, get to a more interesting point in the conversation.

Do you disagree or agree with my terms+defintions? If disagree, please explain why and provide alternatives for us to consider.
