Thanks Gerry. This method helped. The matter is resolved. I found that if there is no message for a person when the form fires up, the variable mMessengerName was a blank. Therefore the same variable was used when a new message was initiated etc, anmd each time this was done, mMessenger returned a blank. I therefore, placed a select statement where required.
