When all else fails, try the built-in VFP maintenance tools ;-)
Glad you got it fixed! Just today I was at a client who had a strange VFP5 issue, inserting new records into a transaction table. Adding a record with one particular value in one particular field crashed it every time, from multiple workstations. Other values in that field went in no problem. Tried reindexing the table, no effect. Ran a custom program that scans all rows and columns for "corrupt" data (low- or high-ASCII characters). It found one in a record dated February 25th. Cleaned up that field, reindexed, problem solved.
