Craig, I hope you don't get the idea I'm attacking you. I agree with most everything you've said since I know you're talking generalities, and not simply 'sticking up for' Microsoft.

Sometimes, though, as you've seen here, people's frustrations in having to find workarounds while MS plans for more income, can get in the way.
