Mike, I found this in the help, but it says explicitly to select (among other things) the XML 4.0 modules. So I did. However, I get the following warning when I do...

This does not happen if XML 4.0 is not checked. Just wondering what's going on here. I'm just trying to build a simple project (no XML, but I'm just following instructions). Perhaps this relates to something subsequent to your writing that article?
