1st. the open dialouge will not show if vfp can find the table (in the path or the default path)

2nd. if you want to automate the open dialouge - i don't think you can. especialy with an error trap, because the error actualy occurs AFTER you cancel the dialouge box.

3rd. if you just don't want the dialouge box to come up at all and just create an error imidiatly so you could errortrap, open table, and retry - i am also not sure here if you can do this. i have only vfp 6, maybe there is a set command in vfp 7 or vfp 8 wich can switch this off.

and 4th. sorry we all keep on missunderstanding!!!
