It all depends. There are cases in which a partner helps, there are cases in which a partner isn't but the seed of a future obstacle.

One tip though; if you lease equipment instead of financing it, it doesn't show up at all in your credit report. That's the only advantage to leasing I've been able to find since I first heard about leasing about 15 years ago.
