Hi Jim,

Duffy may have a little too much enthusiasm for SQL Server, but anyways, there is a SQL Server Developer Edition that has the client tools. This comes with an MSDN subscription or can be purchased separately for US $500 (you might as well get the MSDN subscription).

Duffy travels with a laptop with "everything on it" and I guess he assumes everyone else does too.
