We have several scale houses that send a constant signal saying how much weight is on a scale followed by stop characters. For example if 300 pounds were on the scale and you went to windows terminal you would see 300lb300lb300lb300lb over and over. Even with no weight we would get 0lb0lb0lb...

Sometimes the scale repair folks will change the baud rate, parity, start and stop bits. Before we can get our software to work right we have to go into something like Windows terminal and guess at configurations until we see something on the screen. Then we can configure our software right.

Does anyone know of a way to determine what is coming across the line without trying to guess like we do?
