Mark;

If nothing else a check box for “SQL Server/MSDE” would be a great marketing ploy for VFP. In fact, this might be the most evident and effective corporate marketing statement from Microsoft! Just let the word get out, “VFP uses SQL Server”! The dorks that run IT will be amazed! Why this is something “new”! We have to have it!

No more of this sell VFP to existing, remaining or surviving developers. Get those IT departments to "see the light". Or at least "see the checkbox".

Well, I have been using Sybase, SQL Server and Oracle with VFP for years. Clicking a checkbox will not write code or enable functionality that does not exist. At least not today!

How about another checkbox that shoots up a rocket that explodes and says, “Microsoft says, “Use VFP for your data centric solutions”!

Let’s face it this is all about emotion and the feelings of many just being expressed in a different way. Some people are emotional and others are practical. As for me, I am an emotionally practical type of person! Sometimes! :)

>I agree it could be an intriguing wish. But like I replied to Charles, I do not have a clue what this option would mean. What does anyone have in mind that this option would do for you/us?

>IAC, this has been a most interesting thread. I know JimN has take a ton of heat for starting this, but it has been a great ride.

>>>if I were building stuff into VFP 10 I'd make sure it had a "USE MSDE/SQL" checkbox in Options.
