>Hi - I just read the posts by Jim Nelson and Jim Duffy about SQL and VFP - In one post someone mentioned the use of VFP as a front end, middle tier and SQL as the backend. This stirred my interest in trying this out. A wondered if many folk are actually using this set up and where the difficulties are (if there are any)... I just have a few general questions...

You can use either ODBC or OLE-DB/ADO
>Do Stored Procedures in SQL and VFP work the same way. ie. I use a SP in VFP to generate my primary keys by looking at another table?
SQL Server has internal methods to generate PKs. No SPs involved.
Look at
Client-Server Applications with Visual FoxPro and SQL Server 7.0 from Hentzenwerke as a place to get started.
