I use MSDE/SQL Server exclusively for all the reasons you mentioned. I'd be interested in knowing what is involved in registering a server and connecting through the internet. That would sure make updating stored procs a snap.

On a related note, I can also register their server and do admin tasks right from my desk in my office. (no PC Anywhere or other communcation softwear required, just an Internet connection)
