No, I understand things very well. Is SQL Server a better data storage platform that VFP? Odds are that people in the industry who know both will say yes. Will SQL Server fit both small and large clients? Yes. Do I advocate that EVERY type of application that you can build use SQL Server? No. The VFP data engine is great for tools and utilities for example. Just look at the HTML HelpBuilder from West Wind Technologies (your welcome for the plu Rick! < s >). It uses VFP tables to store help content and meta data.

Take a look at a post in this same thread regarding a conversation Mike Helland and I had about valid uses for DBFs.

Please forgive me if you've already offered this information, but have you ever worked with SQL Server?
