I think you must understand the NAME clause first.
The purpose of the NAME clause is to have a variable through which you can control the form.
do form MyForm name xyz linked
xyz.BackColor = rgb(255, 0, 0)
xyz.CmdOK.Enabled = .F.
...
If you include the LINKED clause, you can now close the form just by releasing the variable:
release xyz
