Hi David,

There is software that runs under Unix that allows a file system on a Unix server to be accessed within a Window's network. The Software is called SAMBA and runs under the smb daemon. It require an investment of time and effort to setup, but the returns can be very rewarding. Here are a couple of links for starters.

I know samba is available on Linux and Mac OS X systems. I feel it should also be available on must other flavors or UNIX, but you my need to research this futher for you particular OS.
