Daniel,

Forget what the book tells you, the relationships created in the Databse are persistent relations and they are not for use in the forms and reports. They are there to be used to enforce referential integrity within the databse itself. They will be the default relationships that will be set up when you drag and drop tables from the data base to the data environment, but that is only an assistance and has no influence over what you may or may not do in the DE.

To create a relationship in the Data environment you click and drag a field from one table to a field or index in the other table. This will create the relationship for you in the DE. These relations have no effect on the relations in the database, they are the temporal relationships that exist for that form or report only.
