If you need HTTPS use can use HTTP Wizard SSL v2. It is located in the file section on UT or at the following URL.
http://www.SeekfordSolutions.com/Products/HTTPWizard/It provides a lot more functionality and ease of use than the API calls. Also, it does not use WinInet or API calls itself except for SSL features. It is purely socket oriented and talks to the server directly.
