Hi Kevin,

>1. Should I pursue the MS VFP certification exam?

That depends on what your goals are. If certification will help you move toward your goals then you "should," otherwise you'll have to look at "it was there" as a reason. < s >

>2. Does it really get me noticed?

Well, I'm sure that depends on who's doing the noticing. For me personally, my boss was extremely impressed. Also, in the 3 years since I recieved my MCSD in April, 2000 my salary will have increased by 37% as of July 1, 2003. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

>3. Pro's/Con's

The con's are that it will cost you about $125 plus study materials, and you'll give up some free time preparing and taking the exam. The amount of free time will vary depending on your current level of experience. See #1 and #2 for pro's.

>4. Is the book "Visual FoxPro Certification Exams Study Guide" ... a good starting place?

You can read sample chapters at http://www.hentzenwerke.com/samplechapters/zsamplechapters.htm. The book is meant as a preparation guide - to help you review and find your weak areas - and does not attempt to actually teach VFP. There are suggested readings to help you fill out your weak areas.
