It was just one index file you renamed, right? In other words, for the other tables you tried to PACK, you didn't restore the index file from a backup, correct?

Some other things you may try:

1. Open the table, REINDEX, then try to PACK it.
2. Open the table, copy it to a temporary table, open that temp table, and try to pack it.

It's been awhile since I worked with VFP data, so sorry I am not more helpful :-).
